Dr. Vishnu S, popularly known as Vishnu S. Warrier is an Indian author, legal professional, legal educator and a chess player. Mr. Warrier is a prolific speaker and writer on various socio-legal issues viz. Law, Indian Education, Intellectual Property Rights, Civic Engagement, Politics, Public Policy, Start-ups, Right to Information, Traditional Knowledge, Women Empowerment and Youth Empowerment, Integrated Public Transport system, Town planning etc.
Mr. Warrier is the founder of the Lex-Warrier Foundation, a not-for-profit research organisation from India with diversified interests in Education, Economic and Social Development, Gender Issues, Advancement of Women, Legal Aid, Research & Publication and Sustainable Development. Mr. Warrier is also the founder of The Lex-Warrier: Online Law Journal, an open access peer reviewed (refereed) academic e-journal publishing scholarly articles in the field of contemporary legal issues.
Mr. Warrier was awarded Ph.D. in Law by the University of Kerala. Prior to which Vishnu earned a Master of Law with First Division from National Law Institute University (NLIU), Bhopal. He earned a Bachelor of Academic Laws and Bachelor of Law from the University of Mysore with First Class. He also qualified UGC-NET (University Grants Commission – National Eligibility Test) and he is eligible for Lectureship in any of the Universities in India.
In addition, Mr. Warrier earned various Certificates in Patent Law; Trademarks, Industrial Designs & Geographical Indications; Arbitration & Mediation Procedure under the WIPO Rules; Copyrights and Related Rights; Software licensing; Intellectual Property Management and Copyright and Related Rights from the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) Academy, Geneva, Switzerland and he holds a Professional Certifications in Privacy and Data Protection Law; and Public Procurement, Tendering and Law Relating to Government Contracts from the National Law School India University (NLSIU), Bangalore.
Mr. Warrier served as Knowledge Partner to National Law School India University (NLSIU), Bangalore in drafting the Karnataka State Municipality Bill, 2020. He was also a member to the committee constituted by the Kochi Metro Rail Limited for drafting the Bill in connection with the Kerala Metropolitan Transport Authority Act, 2019 (KMTA Act). Mr. Warrier was also entrusted with drafting the Regulations for the Kochi Metropolitan Transport Authority constituted under the KMTA Act.
Besides his involvement in various academic activities, Mr. Warrier is also a FIDE rated Chess player representing All India Chess Federation and the Chess Association of Kerala holding the Title of Arena FIDE Master (AFM).
